• Personal computing: How can software be more flexible and interoperable? Which mental models belong alongside (or in place of) “files” and “applications”? What comes after the smartphone?
• Learning: What are the limiting factors in acquiring and applying knowledge? Why hasn’t the Internet revolutionized learning yet? How might it still?
• Artificial intelligence: What (if any) are the limits of large deep learning models? How will they change the course of history? Are there kinds of intelligence fundamentally different from that?
• Cooperation: How do institutions work, and when do they fail? How can we fund public goods that aren’t supported by governments? Which systems will shape large-scale cooperation in the future as legislatures and stock exchanges do in the present?
